Various Organizations at Rock Of Ages

LWML

LWML is an auxiliary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, organized to develop and to maintain greater mission consciousness among the women of the Synod, and to fulfill a vibrant role in Christ’s mission to the whole Church.

The first societies were organized in the 1850’s. Beginning in 1928 several attempts were made to organize a Synod-wide women’s league. After several failed attempts the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League was finally founded in 1942 and today is active in every district of the LCMS and has set a pattern for similar organizations around the world.

Here at Rock of Ages our women are involved in many aspects of the congregation. They do monthly service projects, prepare kits for shut-ins, manage the kitchen, host special dinners and potlucks, and much more.

Mite Boxes are an integral part of LWML and are used to support District and International mission projects and to implement the LWML program.

LWML officers at Rock of Ages are:

President - Susie Briggs
Vice President - Marybeth Zurcher
Secretary - Fran Gierard
Treasurer - Susan Avila

Young At Heart

Is a group consisting of Missouri Synod Lutherans from churches all over the Springs. We meet on the first Monday of every month at 11:30am. One month will be a potluck and the next we will meet at a restaurant. For entertainment we have interesting and informative speakers or a local dance or singing group, etc. Dues are $5.00 a year. It is a good way to meet other fellow Lutherans, have a nice lunch and enjoy the wonderful entertainment. Won’t you join us?

Thrivent

 Branch 4070

Thrivent exists as a not-for-profit corporation and, by law, provides members with insurance and financial services. Today, more than 1.5 million people are members of Thrivent, which is consistently ranked in the top 2 percent of all U.S. insurers in terms of ordinary life insurance in force. Rock of Ages houses Branch #4070 and they are very active in the church life here. They are involved in service projects, fellowship opportunities (i.e. Thanksgiving Dinner), fund raising efforts, volunteer recognition and much, much more. If you are interested or want to find out more this year’s officers are:

President - Sue Herrmann
Treasurer - Doug Atkinson
Recorder - Kay Scharf
Project Coordinator - Donna Dieters
